Τα δύο κυριότερα όπλα των αντιεμβολιαστών είναι αφενός το μεταμοντέρνο υπόδειγμα της υγειονομικής περίθαλψης, το οποίο μετακινεί την ευθύνη λήψης αποφάσεων από τον ιατρό στον ασθενή, αφετέρου το λεγόμενο «confirmation bias», η νοητική πλάνη η οποία οδηγεί το άτομο να πιστεύει μόνο τις πηγές εκείνες οι οποίες υποστηρίζουν την ήδη διαμορφωμένη άποψή του.
