Ως σύμμαχος των ΗΠΑ, η Τουρκία απέχει για κάποιο χρονικό διάστημα. Αλλά είναι μόλις πρόσφατα που οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες έχουν αρχίσει να εκφράζουν την δυσαρέσκειά τους. Αν η ξαφνική μεταστροφή τής Τουρκίας σε μια σειρά από ζητήματα αποτελεί μια κάποια ένδειξη, η κυβέρνηση Ομπάμα θα έπρεπε να είχαν θέσει ως προτεραιότητα εδώ και πολύ καιρό το να είναι όλο και πιο σκληρή με την Τουρκία.
